A Few Thoughts on a Saturday Afternoon
This entry is being brought to us by the letters “r” and “e”. Here are some "re-" words which are anathema to
a liberal leaning mind:
Republican (obviously)
Recession (as in “The most recent Republican presidential
administration was plagued by a recession.”)
Retrogression (as in “A retrogression of
American health care insurance regulations as imagined by the Republican Party
can only lead to misery and suffering.”)
Resist (Oh my! However did that word creep into our little stream of consciousness word
association exercise! Please do not “read”
anything subliminal or “recalcitrant” into its inclusion here!)
And a final thought unrelated to anything: Did you wonder why in the old Popeye cartoons
we would always see his female antagonist “Sea Hag”, but never met her sister, “Land
Bitch”?

I was a Popeye addict when around 11/12 yet don't recall either of those female names - in fact none apart frm Olive Oyl.
Think I was always waiting fixated in keen anticipation for the inevitable confrontation with Bluto - and, of course, the downing of the spinach. (Da-da-da-dump-da-DAH!)
Ah, resist!
