A Saturday Memoriam: Cuba Gooding, Sr.
Cuba Gooding Sr. passed away this week in Los Angeles. I’ve always liked his performance on the 1974
hit recording by The Main Ingredient, Everybody Plays the Fool. In his memory, we will post a video of a live performance
on The Midnight Special. (Remember that
late night music show?)
This is one of my favorite R&B songs from the early 70s. Of course it’s about a relationship gone badly,
but I can’t help but wonder. The title
and its premise could just as easily speak to us today as we try to cope with
the current regime.
We may all be playing the fools now.
(Thank you for reading.
RIP Mr. Gooding.)

I didn't know of a C.G. Snr though I suppose I should have, considering his actor son's name. Same regarding, 'The Main Ingredient', not really known here, with just one minor hit in '74 (not this one). Still, sad when anyone dies - and it's a good enough reason to play this topically-title song.
Btw: I only just caught up yesterday on D.T. having made a howler of an error confusing Syria with Iraq recently. As long as if he wants to drop a nuclear on North Korea he doesn't bomb the South. (As Mrs Palin might well have done.)
Nah, don't think we're playing the fools, the resistance continues to grow.
Your last sentence reminds me of the Firesign Theatre:
"I think we are all Bozos on this bus."
Thank you Raybeard. Yes, the President's Freudian slip was classic!
Thank you, Dave R. Some days it's hard to tell the (alt)right from the wrong.
Yes, Spo. May God Bless all the Bozos, every one of us.
