Tribute to Laverne, Maxine, and Patti
As we
watched breathlessly while Congress debated gun control legislation this week,
another event of great cultural significance occurred: the Andrews Sisters were
reunited in the afterlife. The youngest
sister Patti’s passing at 94 ended a 46 year separation of the trio. We can only hope that they are now harmonizing
again as beautifully as they did in 1941, when their performance in the clip
below was filmed for the Abbott and Costello comedy Buck Privates.
BTW: the
posting of this clip has nothing to do with my dear wife Anne Marie rejecting
my suggestion of this song for her Saturday Night Dance Party on her blog. Also BTW: I’m not a very good liar.
This is a
special treat for those of us who, advancing in years, are growing more
appreciative of the American music culture in the pre-rock-and-roll era. It is also a treat to those of you who might
be bored with my well chosen words of satirical wisdom in favor of something
that is actually entertaining. Please
enjoy!
(THANK YOU
FOR READING AND WATCHING. TOMORROW: THE
LAST SUPPER AT APPLEBEE’S!)
1 Comments:
BTW: Your satirical words of wisdom ARE indeed entertaining! :-)
Now let me go see what AM DID select for her Saturday Night Dance party song. As I lost power last night, my choice would "Dancing in the Dark!"
Love,
Janey
