Sunday Morning Post (V.3, #2): 2021 – The Story So Far...
We are at the end of our first full week into 2021. Let’s take stock of what has happened so far.
Two weeks ago, it was still December according to our trusty wall calendars, there was still a zero after the second “two” in the numeral denoting the year 2020, and the President was frothing at the mouth how the election was viciously stolen from him.
Now this week, it is January according to our trusty wall calendars, there is now a “one” in the fourth digit space denoting the year 2021, and the President is frothing at the mouth about how the election was viciously stolen from him.
If we were feeling philosophical, we would gaze up at our ceiling in deep thought and sigh, “Ah, the more things change the more they stay the same.”
Let’s be clear: we are not feeling philosophical today. 2021, we want a divorce!
Americans saw things this week which we have seen before: social unrest at government facilities with the intent to overthrow the established order. In the past these images originated from banana republics far, far away. This week’s images came from our own nation’s capital. We are not used to having the overthrow of a government so close to our homes.
We’re uncomfortable, we’re unnerved and oh, yes, the people who stormed the Capitol in DC will not be going away any time soon. In fact, they returned to their homes where, for all we know, they are plotting their next big move. The President unleashed his followers to persuade errant members of Congress to dispute the fair election results, but that didn’t happen. The protestors who marched to the Capitol engaged in public destruction which is usually thought to only be carried out by left wing protestors.
Conservatives are such rank amateurs when it comes to torching public property. They could learn a few lessons from the small minority of left-wing protestors who probably don’t give a damn what they’re marching for just as long as they can loot to their heart’s desires.
This week’s marchers were all in one place at the same time. It would’ve been so easy to round them up at one end of the Capitol, and march them to the other end into vans where they could be processed for prosecution. Unfortunately, the Capitol Police proved to be ineffectual when faced with the angry Trumpers. Admittedly it’s a bit hard to take people into custody when you’re running away from them. Now all of those protestors are back home waiting for the FBI or ATF to come knocking at their doors. Or many of them may be plotting more domestic acts of violence in the name of Donald Trump. Some are already warning that the next few years will be fraught with episodes of domestic terrorist acts.
We need to be ready, but that would only be possible with an organized strike from the top. Fingers crossed that the cavalry coming on January 20th will be able to strike back at those who would threaten our domestic tranquility.
(Thank you
for reading. Buckle up, everyone. It’s going to be a long year.)

I am still disgusted by the ReTHUGs who helped stoke these fires, and the ReTHUGs who are now saying to do nothing about ______ because, oh let's see which excuse works:
1] He's only got a few days left, how bad could he get.
2] Maybe the one about how he's learned his lesson?
Or, my personal favorite:
3] To impeach him would be divisive to the country, as if the majority of the ReTHUGs playing the voter fraud lie, and refusing to accept Biden's win wasn't the divisiveness that started this mess.

Buckle up alright my friend. Trump is a showman.....he will not go out without a huge show and bang!!!!!! I don't we we have seen the last of this for a while.
I was away when all this happened; I was not on top of things it is quite a nightmare that is no surprise.
Hi Bob. If#1: No, this can go no further. #2 - He will never learn his lessons.
#3 Is it even possible to divide the country up any more then it is now?
True, Maddie. He's got a terminal case of being bitten by the show biz bug.
Welcome back, Spo. I hope you had memorable quality time with your father.
Domestic terrorism has largely been given a wink and a nod so far in the USA. Authorities need to treat it seriously -- as seriously as any other terrorist threat.
If history is any guide, Debra, it is that we won't treat it seriously until many lives have been lost.
I would hope that everyone interested in protesting would learn from our past mistakes... that looting is not protesting - it's theft. That vandalism does nothing but diminish the strength of your argument. That violence of any kind casts you in a bad light and since you want to attract people to your cause and sway them with your words... that violence, vandalism and looting have no place at demonstrations. That behavior only serves to detract from the message you are trying to send. Peaceful, loud and proud, organized and respectful protests can get the job much better than anarchy. As in dealing with a troubled two-year old... use your words.
