Sunday Morning Post (V.3, #9): At The Feet of the Idol
Editors Note: In today’s performance, the part of the Burning Bush is played by Ronald Reagan.
And lo, it came to pass that Moses was compelled to leave his people and climb Mt. Horeb. He saith to them, “Chill out Israelites. I shall return.”
And it was on Mt. Horeb (later Mt. Sinai) that Moses received the Ten Commandments from the Almighty God.
Upon his return to the people, he saw that they had constructed a Golden Trump statue and they bowed in prayer at its base.
This so angered Moses that he cast the stone tablets at the idol and both were destroyed in a pyrotechnic display of smoke and fire.
And lo, Cecil B. DeMille yelled “Cut, “Print it”, and everyone went home for the day.
And now the most fervent of God’s believers are placing more confidence in the fake idol that is Donald Trump than their belief in God itself. Is this another example of “Forgive them, Father, for they know what they do”? Or perhaps it’s time we stopped leaning on this defense.
In any case, the evangelical community needs to take a hard look at what they’re doing. They won’t do this, but the rest of us should not give up trying to pull them back from their alternative reality.
(Thank you for reading. Where is Moses when you need him?)

The insanity of it all is stunning AND frightening.
I thought you knew, Evangelicals were never really Christians, they're simply greedy people who use that religion as a cudgel to beat those around them senseless.
I like Dave R's comment.
One cannot help being utterly perplexed at just how many 'Trump-ites' there still are, hell-bent on carrying on feeding an already over-bloated ego, and he just laps it all up. Cannot they yet see how futile it all is? While surely ridiculous theatrics like this can only further dribble away the already diminishing support he has - it's hardly likely that anything like the same numbers will now start coming to him from the opposite direction. Cheeses cripes!
The only way he could be Pres again is to attempt a Myanmar-type coup, though who would now dare to put even that past the crazed loon?
Very clever, Todd. Well done! I was aghast when I heard about the golden Trump (made in Mexico). What a frightening group of ghouls. I think Ted Cruz takes the cake though, for his bit of theatre. He's such a 'victim'. Sigh. It's all optics and theatrics at this point. All that money... wasted on this ridiculous exercise. The repugs have no mirror anymore - no means of self reflection. They are done for.
Hi Bob. Yes, all the theatrics are scary.
Thank you, Dave R., for that definition. I knew there must be some reason to distrust them.
Thank you Spo. Dave R. does give us a good working definition of those people.
I wouldn't count out a coup yet, Raybeard. Everything else has happened in America that was previously unimaginable. Why not a coup?
Thank you, Uptonking. A little play in the middle of all of the theatrics should get people thinking...but I doubt it.
If there is a god, they are all in for a surprise,
I'm still just shaking my head.
