It’s Groucho’s Birthday!
Today is the
128th anniversary of the birth of Julius Henry Marx. Let us celebrate with wine, woman, song and
more women. Then some more song, then
more wine. Much, much more wine!
Please enjoy
this song and dance from Animal Crackers.
But don’t dawdle. It looks like
he’s in a hurry to leave.
(Thank you
for reading. Please pardon the appearance
of the Africans at the beginning. They
are not stereotypes. They are actors
working for scale!)

I must have seen the film at some time but don't recall this scene at all.
Groucho's was an act impossible to imitate, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone attempt it. He was one of the very original 'quickfire wits' - even if his words were largely pre-scripted (presumably).
You can see the Vaudeville in his dancing. He and his brothers were great!!
There is at least one actor who currently tours as Groucho. I think his name is Frank Ferante. We saw him in a revival of Animal Crackers at the Arena Stage in DC about 20 years. Thanks for sharing, Raybeard.
Thank you, Dave R. They were wonderful.
He was without doubt one of the funniest men of the 20th century.
A good analysis, Spo!
